Janne Lindqvist’s research interests are at the intersection of human-computer interaction and security engineering.  


Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr Heidi Rautalahti – Postdoctoral researcher at Aalto University, Finland

Heidi has a Phd in Study of Religion (ThD) from the University of Helsinki. Her dissertation focused on contemporary religion in digital games and among gamers from actor-centred and game-immanent perspectives - in other terms: meaning-making and eudaimonic player experiences. Her current research interests relate to otherworldly and extraordinary encounters with digital games and technology.

Doctoral Researcher

Amel Bourdoucen (she/her)- Doctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland

Amel holds an M.Sc of Technology from the University of Turku, Finland in Information Security and Cryptography (Network Track). Her research interests are focused on investigating the usability of Cloud services and user awareness of privacy, understanding cognitive processes involved with making privacy and security related choices on different platforms, and implementing solutions to assist users in making better decisions.

Rongjun Ma (she/her)- Doctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland

Rongjun holds an M.sc of Human-computer Interaction of EIT master joint program (Entry: Aalto University, Finland,  Exit: the University of Twente, the Netherlands). Her current research interests focus on the user experience of everyday digital technology usage, information overload-related challenges, and decluttered design.

Henrik Lassila (he/him) - Doctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland

Henrik holds M.Sc. in Cognitive Science from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland and M.A. in Literature from the University of Oulu, Finland. His research interests focus on understanding and modeling user behavior and experiences related to everyday digital technologies by applying models and theories from psychology and social sciences.

Jaakko Väkevä (he/him) - Doctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland

Jaakko holds a M.Sc. of Technology from Aalto University, Finland in Information Networks (Digital & Social Media track). His research interests are focused on investigating how videogames can support eudaimonic well-being, by producing aesthetic player experiences that may be considered emotional, reflective, meaningful, or personally transformative.

Emmi Kärnä (she/her) - Doctoral Researcher at Aalto University, Finland

Emmi is a games researcher, whose doctoral dissertation investigates players’ interpretation formation during gameplay, their connection to aesthetic game experiences and in particular how to design for player interpretation with the means of interpretation design. Emmi has M.A. in New Media - Game Design & Production from Aalto University, and has additionally worked as an entrepreneur and game designer since 2015.
